Kreativ Blogger Award

Isn't this just the nicest thing!
Thank you Tracy Topps for nominating my blog for this award.
Please visit Tracy's blog at http://minisontheedge.blogspot.com/

Now, there are rules for accepting this award. They are as follows:

1. Thank the person that gave it to you.

2. Copy the logo and place it in your blog.

3. Link to the person who nominated you.

4. Name 7 things about yourself that nobody knows.

5. Nominate 7 kreativ bloggers.

6. Post links to the 7 blogs that you nominate.

7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know that you nominate them.

OK, so I've got the first 3 down.

I'll be back tomorrow evening to complete the other 4.

Thanks again Tracy...

Ok, to continue...

7 things about myself that nobody knows:

1. I'm really not superwoman!

I find the balancing act of family, day jobs, art studio, blogging, facebook, and etsy quite challenging. And I wonder how all these wonderfully talented bloggers balance their computer time with their family time?

2. I hide a bag of Cod Chips in the console of my truck. And I don't share!

3. I still enjoy watching soaps! I grew up on "As The World Turns" and watch it whenever I can!

4. I have a pair of 3 inch heels in my closet that I've never worn and never will, and will never part with!

5. Honey blonde is not my natural hair color. I'm quite sure my hair is snowy white by now but I will never know for certain as I will be coloring my hair as long as you'll be looking!

6. I enjoy being 25 pounds overweight and only pretend to diet!

7. I have a favorite daydream that I and MRS.T.BAGG will one day be on OPRAH and that Oprah will pass out a MRS.T.BAGG art doll to everyone in the audience. AND THE AUDIENCE GOES WILD! :o)

And now to nominate 7 deserving kreativ bloggers for this lovely award. A big thank you to these artists for starting my day off with their beautiful offerings making my morning cup of coffee so much sweeter!

1. http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/ (as I go to retieve this link, I have to pause and look at the latest post on Karens blog! You can always find something new on this amazing blog! Thanks Karen!)

Dreaming of Hawaii...

Oh, to be in beautiful Hawaii again. I need sunshine!!

These are some of my favorite photos from my trip to Honolulu just last November.

This tree stands in front of the oldest hotel on the island. I don't remember the name of the hotel, but it was gorgeous! I love how lacey the branches are against the sky. I love trees...

I had a delightful afternoon tea on my second day in Honolulu. Tea served in silver and china on an outdoor terrace, at a lovely hotel, right on the beach. All while enjoying the view of surfers and sunbathers.
I was joined by Terrie Lee Steinmeyer, a very talented artist of needlework art.
And it turns out she's quite the doll artist too. I think she would be successful at any endeavor! I am tickled to to call her by her pet name "tlee", to me it sounds like "tea lea". Love that! Love everything tea related :)

This was the view from the balcony of my hotel taken on the first evening after I arrived. Shopping- right under my nose!
Heaven!!

More pics of Hawaii to come soon!
Have a sunny day!

A Grateful Day!

Ahh, I wish I was back on this Island, basking in the sun! What a wonderful cruise I had with my wonderful husband Jerry last year. I am so blessed!
This is my thought for today...
You know, it's not about how many "friends", fans or followers we collect, but about the recognition we receive from our fellow artists and from those who truly love us. And I am grateful to blogger for this format in which everyone is a "star"!
I wish you all a Blessed Day!

BEAUTIFUL SNOW!

Isn't this the most beautiful blue sky you've ever seen? These pictures were taken in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

My wonderful husband Jerry took these pictures of me as I shivered in my far too flimsy coat.
It had to be the coldest day I've ever experienced. The blue sky was so deceiving!

Jerry would say, "stand over here" and "stand over there". Then he said, "stand... right... here." As he looked through the view finder, he reached up over his head, grabbed a low hanging branch and gave a pull...

...And then, to my surprise, a huge pile of freezing snow fell all over me as the camera went "click"!
I love my Jerry!

SNOW IN KANSAS!

I had a wonderful visit to my hometown in mid-western Kansas last week.
And yeah, it SNOWED! It was so magical.
Living in Alabama limits the amount of snow I see each year, unless I go find it back home!

I especially like to take pictures of trees in winter. So beautiful in it's icy simplicity.

I have a new wonderful camera, the Sony Cyber-Shot, full HD 1080. It's so user friendly and has so many cool features, one of them being the sparkle effect. I applied this effect to the next two shots. So pretty...

"The Fairy Tree"

I think this is my favorite picture from my trip to Kansas.

I really like my new camera! Thanks Santa!

In Hawaii with Marilyn Radzat and Gail Lackey!

Aloha!
What a wonderful week in Hawaii I had with the talented artists Marilyn Radzat and Gail Lackey. And I shall not forget to mention Patricia, who fed us and kept us smiling and happy with her big, generous heart! I also have returned home with new friendships to cherish and I hope to keep in contact with them all.
Thelma and Louise loved it so much, they wouldn't return home with me so I left them there to enjoy beautiful Hawaii and I hope to see them again at the next art retreat!

My first blog!

I'm so excited! I've just come out from under my rock and discovered blogging! Quite by accident really. I sold a MRS.T.BAGG doll to Aude Berger, a french book writer of beautiful art dolls a few weeks ago on ebay, and she suggested I look up her book which is currently displayed on Gail Lackey's blogsite.

Well, Gail Lackey happens to be one of my all time favorite artist of adorable fantasy characters. So I went directly to her site and low and behold, she and another wonderful artist, Marilyn Radzat, are hosting a creative retreat in beautiful Hawaii of all places! SIGN ME UP!!

So I signed up.

The week long retreat is not a sculpting seminar but is ment to inspire creativity which I am so ready for. No kidding, just a few weeks ago I was saying to myself, "I need to get my hands back into clay!" But it had been so long since I've created anything. MRS.T.BAGG has been so successful, and what a blessing, but I had quit sculpting as she took all my creative time. And I've moved around a lot in the last 10 years so my studio has literally been in boxes. This retreat is just what I didn't know I was looking for!

The long and short of it is that I'm feeling that creative surge and this is the right time to follow those urges. Everything just seems to be falling into place.

I have created other characters in the past, but MRS.T.BAGG is my passion just now and I will pursue that direction until I'm moved to try something else. I have yet to create a teacup baby. I've wanted to but they always look like little old ladies! So I intend to take a baby sculpting class under Jack Johnston soon and learn how to make a "pretty" face.

Wish me luck! ...Rose

Welcome to my blog!

Hi, my name is Rose Farnsworth Davis and I'm excited you found my blog!

I'm here to introduce you to my lovely little teacup ladies. They're known as MRS.T.BAGG and are handmade by myself and sold only on ebay at this time. I have just discovered etsy and will be opening a shop on that site in the near future.

Just 3 inches tall from tip to toe (so to speak!), MRS.T.BAGG was originally created as an amusing gift for customers who attended private tea parties at a popular combination Tea Room/antique store in Richmond, VA.
To my delight, MRS.T.BAGG became very popular and I soon took them to market. From there they were seen in many fashionable locations including the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, tea shops in England and Germany, numerous antique stores, gift shops, and Tea Houses throughout the U.S.A.

Today MRS.T.BAGG is offered as a resin reproduction of my original sculptures. After sculpting over 3000 MRS.T.BAGG faces, I had to find a more efficient way to keep up with the demand! I found a wonderful resin artist who makes hundreds of resin copies for me. He sends me the blanks and I then blush and hand paint every little face and assemble the darlings myself.
Each MRS.T.BAGG wears a handmade teatag with her name printed on one side and the MRS.T.BAGG logo on the flipside.

Self taught in a variety of mediums I have at last found my passion in sculpting with polymer clays. As a mom at home, I first discovered the clay while entertaining my children with art projects over a Christmas holiday. The children soon when back to school and I never quit playing. That was over 15 years ago. I have attended sculpting seminars since then by Bill Nelson and Jack Johnston and their encouragement has been inspiring. I have been recognized by the Professional Doll Makers Art Guild as a Master Artist, and have proudly attended the New York Toy Fair as a featured artist in the guild. MRS.T.BAGG makes me smile and my hope is to make you smile too! Rose Farnsworth Davis, Artist
